Nicole’s pendant lamp hanging planters

Pendant Lamp Hanging Planters DIY

I’m always finding old glass light pendants at the thrift store and my mom as long as I can remember has used them as planters. I decided to do the same and tried three different ways.

1. There is the one with the wide top and hole at the bottom- it is blue and marbled and awesome- I put the soil directly into it and then used a plate to catch excess water and hung it in a vintage macramé hanger.

2. Next is the type with only one hole, which worked out as my favorite with just a bit of water and a succulent straight in; I hung it with a bit of cord from the hardware store.

3. Then there is the little frilly one, I put the plant in the pot straight in and strung it up with a bit of jute. Eh bada boom bada bing.

It was just THAT easy to give my kitchen window a little jungalow makeover.

*Sometimes you can get really lucky and find the wide, open pendants that are closed on one side, but have three small holes in the glass for screws spaced evenly around them- that’s when you’ve hit the jackpot. Plant directly into them and put your string straight through the spaces for the screws.

What you’ll need:
Jute, cord or macramé hanger
Glass light pendant
Pretty plant
Potting soil & plate (depending)
Hammer & Nail to hang

Omgosh, I love this idea! I have a milk green wide half pendant with three holes. It has a raised flower pattern around the edges and a small circle on the top that I applied fake gold leaf to. I’m going to have to try this! Thank you!
