11/8/10Junky Market Mondays {New Installment}

Since Faith and I head to the flea markets pretty much every weekend to find goods for clients, we thought we’d start a new little installment on the blog called Junky Market Mondays where were share with you some of the best, worst, and just most outrageous stuff we see on these excursions.

Yesterday was the Pasadena City College Flea Market.  We like this market because it’s not overwhelmingly huge (like the Rose Bowl can be) and it’s free to get in. It’s best (in my opinion) for finding objects (less clothing and furniture).

We bought a series of “Designer’s Guide to Color” (Chronicle Books, 1984-1986), a very, very funny book about How to be Italian by Lou D’ Angelo, a vintage ghost clock, oversized African beads and a flower broach for my collection. Don’t be surprised if you start seeing some of these items pop up in upcoming photoshoots.

We loved but left a whole lotta things including that Picasso book with the gorgeous colors,  vintage nails with cool, graphic numbers on them, some beautiful art prints, and some oversized (and overpriced) vintage x-mas ornaments.
The Loco included a double-headed frightening doll… and our favorite outfits of the day are pictured here, modeled by the ‘Locals.’
Really, way too much fun for a Sunday morning.

  1. That does look like so much fun! I feel like all the best flea markets are in LA!! Looking forward to seeing what else you find on this new series!

  2. Hey I was there too! Since I’m new to LA, which flea market do you recommend for more furniture?

  3. Hi Rebecca, the best markets for furniture are the Long Beach and the Rose Bowl– my advice? Bring a Uhaul!

  4. So much fun for a Sunday morning! Thanks for giving us a slice of the fun pie, J and F! x

  5. Thanks Justina! I am a little scared of the Rose Bowl because of its size, but I’ll check out Long Beach this month. (I’ve never brought a U-Haul to a flea, but I’ve got a Jeep that loves to get packed full of booty.)
